Explosive Volcanoes
To make an erupting volcano is a fun craft that many children enjoy. This science activity is mainly restricted to schools, troops and day cares. Children are often asked to make creative crafts that can aid in increasing their brain power and exploring their minds with pure thoughts, wider imaginations and enhanced productivity.
Following is the list of supplies you will require:
• Large paper plate
• Bathroom disposable cup
• Aluminum foil
• Tape
• Scissors
• Water
• Baking soda
• Vinegar
• Paper cup
• Pan or tray
After you gather all the essential supplies, follow the instructions:
• Hold the paper cup and plate together.
• Tape the bottom of the cup to the middle of the plate.
• Tear off a large piece of aluminum foil.
• Cover the attached cup-plate with the foil.
• Turn the aluminum foil under the edge of the plate.
• Completely seal the plate by pressing foil on the plate.
• You can also use tape to hold the foil.
• Poke a hole into the middle of the cup through the covered foil.
• Using a good scissor to make slits from the middle to the inside edge of the cup.
• Tape the foil to the inside of the cup.
• Your volcano is now ready.
• To make a erupting volcano, position volcano on a tray or baking pan.
• Pour 2 tablespoon of water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda into the cup through the center hole.
• Take 2 tablespoon of vinegar and drop it into the mixture.
• You will find your lava bubbling and your volcano erupting.
Eruption takes place due to the chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda. This chemical reaction releases carbon dioxide that bubbles in the form of lava when vinegar is dropped into the mixture of baking soda and water.
